Recorded from a Spotify Premium playlist using my Sony TC-K570 deck onto a Maxell UR 90 (I ran out of better quality cassettes, but it still sounds great). My dad and I have a very similar taste in music, so it wasn't hard to find songs he likes/might like. Here's (most of) the track listing: And here's the finished product made using Walkman Archive's templates (Ignore the white rectangle on the front, it's there to hide a picture of my brother who doesn't want to be shown): I hope he likes it, it took long enough to make...
That's a very nice thought, I'm sure your dad will appreciate it. Especially because in addition to selecting the music he likes, you chose a format that was THE format back in the day (it still is for me)
Yeah he grew up with cassettes and so did I, for the first few years of my life anyway, before they went out of fashion.
I presume he still has something to play cassettes on. My Father didn't seem to have any interest in music at all. Making a mix tape for my Mother would be far easier. A bit of Queen, Paul Simon, then the Grenadier Guards band. We had the latter two at her funeral.
That's what makes recording so enjoyable: preparing and sorting the songs, picking the tape, recording them, making a creative J-Card... That ends up in an unique gift that cannot compare to anything that you can buy in a store. A real personal gift. Thanks for sharing (and so glad you find my resources useful!)
Yes Hugo, you hit Well the nail on top! That is nicely said! Nothing compares that as a beautifull gift!
I just received my first mixtape today in tears and was smiling ear to ear so i can imagine how you Dad will fee. Its a unique one of a kind gift
I might have to lend him a Walkman...assuming he can remember how to use one. I know he used to make mixtapes back in the 80s so it might be a nice reminder for him.
Respect for the track listing, Chris Nice J-card design too, I did think I used the same background image when I designed my 18th birthday party invites... Henry Side note: I've told my nearest and dearest that I want Pink Floyd's 'Great Gig in the Sky' played at my funeral because it's the only song that brings a tear to my eye without fail
