No I used Tamiya spray cans. Used TS75 Champagne Gold which is for plastic models. I sanded the sides with 400 grit, 800 grit 1000 grit then 2000 grit. Once it was sanded down it was very chrome looking. I then used some grease and wax remover to clean it up. I then used some scotch brite to scuff up the surface to be painted. Doing that will ensure primer adheres better. Then i carefully masked off the areas I didn't want to paint. Next step I applied some plastic primer. I used Tamiya's Surface primer. Did 2 coats of primer. Then applied 3 coats of color. Letting it dry for around an hour between coats. I let it dry overnight and then used Tamiya plastic polishing compounds. Used the "fine" polish then used "finish" polish. Only lightly polished it. Was able to get a nice smooth semi gloss look to it now which is very similar to the original look. I've listed the paints and polish part codes below for reference.

    Tamiya TS75 Champagne Gold
    Tamiya Surface Primer Spray
Tamiya Polishing Compound 87068, 87069, 87070 (Can get these as a set rather than buying separately)

Can get these all online on ebay or amazon if you're in the US but also at your local hobby store.

New additions to the collection or as I call it these days "The pile" :) Finally got a WM 504 in excellent condition. The DC2 also in great condition but the lid will not stay closed. Seems to have some wear on the metal tab on the lid. Need to figure out a way to fix it or find a replacement lid. Plays cassettes but has the clicking noise.

    yes !

congrats to those great units - as much as the DC2 is a "must have", it is not half as nice as the (especially in this condition) rare 504 :reelspin::reelspin:

I agree. The 504 is just too cool. I'm hoping to get another rare Walkman in the next few weeks. Will update this thread if I do win it!!

Nope no tips or hints. I'm sure you guys will like it. Only thing i'll say is (I may be wrong) but I've never seen anyone on here or on the old forum show a photo of one that they actually own and Google searches only show them in old catalogue photos.
