This arrived today, just now in fact! Always wanted one of these, but didn't want to pay silly money, got this for a low best offer. It's in very nice condition much better than I hoped for. Doesn't really need much doing to it to get it really nice. Needs the speakers and passive re-foaming as always, haven't opened it up yet, but the original passive disc is laying inside. There hardly a mark on the front, top and back really nice, there's a couple of small dents on the speaker grill which should be easy to get out, one of the switch tops is missing and another is damaged, might rob the switch tops from another of my Aiwa's for now. Deck needs re-belting. I'll do that tonight. The some dents on the bottoms of the ali end trims again these should come out. Also someone has put a toggle switch on one side? the power switch works fine unless you flick this switch then it won't power on? I'll get rid of this when I open it up, the hole have to filled but I can just re-paint that small section. So that's it not too much to do really and should end up very nice indeed. Here it is as it arrived I haven't done anything to it yet, except a quick test and everything seems fine.
Yeah it really is nice, I have a 660, 770 and a 990 and now a 880. Just opened it up the original passive disc was inside
Lovely and it has the elussive origional areals, any one who has done reafoaming knows it's a peice of cake, i find it harder to change belts lol, i wonder if you'rs was cheaper than mine, mine was a banging deal from Docs but no where near as clean as yours, congrats
I think the price was very good I'll PM you what I paid as your interested An update the deck is re-belted and works great , gooey belts I hate them! I've done plenty of re-foaming it's quite easy, just need to get some, waited for it to arrive so I could do my own measurements.
I was thinking of leaving a message telling our man mrp32Dave: "Oh, you lucky sonofa ..." (Uh, never mind ) Let's remain calm and civil, right? For one thing, this fine-looking score of yours doesn't bother with shortwave (aww ...). For another thing, you, sir, have done with that accoladed Aiwa what I am in no hurry to do with another Aiwa -- or, indeed, with any other boombox after my lead-balloon experiences with my CS-600U. That is, open it. To re-foam the speaker enclosures of that beauty. Or for any other reason (Sigh ...) A "piece of cake," Reno? "Quite easy," Dave? Suuure ...
These are lovely machines & so nice looking One can only wonder why anyone felt the need to add a stupid extra switch!! Can't wait to see her all going again
