As the title suggests this is my latest acquisition, recently arrived from Austria. A deal was struck on this box actually a couple of years ago, it was decided we would do the handover in person later that year rather than risk the postage.

The logistics involved in arranging a goose and its flock to move hundreds of miles meant we missed a couple of dates last year but this Christmas the goose found some space under those wings and brought it over.

I had heard a lot about the TPR-950 and i did have a poorly and very poor cosmetic 950 that i had stored in case parts were needed but i was still surprised at how good these are. The sounds is fantastic and the deck is a real joy to use. I may invite the wrath of many here but i like it far more than the M70, no it's not quite as loud but the sound quality is actually far better.

I will post some more pics when i have finished the detail clean but here she is, all the internal bits are done here, just some detailing to do outside:

I'd like to say a big thanks to AO and his generosoity in giving me this box, I'm sure he'll be miffed i mentioned it but i was extremely touched and had to say. I'll pay it forward Ao :wavey:

Nice! I like the slightly more 70's styling of the 950...not heard one but I'm told they're good. Congrats

And KRS-One was pretty much the last tape I played in it funnily enough.

So happy this has gone to you Tre. As you decided to out me in this post sadly you leave me with no alternative than to mention that this place has been a breath of fresh air since you came on board. Always the gentleman and always positive, just what this place needs.

So, this old TPR is in very safe hands as far as I'm concerned.

Early Aiwa - Enough Said :)

Quality Quality Quality & weighty simply because it's made from a lot of pressed steel inside not plastic!!

The deck will last forever needing just belts & rubber bits :) love these!

I love mine and agree it's far better than the m70 but most boxes are.

Congrats Tstar for another great pickup:)

Most impressive! You can so easily tell just from the video, the quality of the finishes on this box, not to mention the sound. It sounds so clear, good base, and this from just listening through YouTube, it's not hard to imagine how it sounds like in person. Congratulations!

You got a wonder box in a most satisfying deal with a gentleman member. High quality build, extremely elegant design, superb sound. I love this model even more than the 955, which is another stunning Aiwa. Your collection is getting more and more beautiful and varied with every new acquisition, congratulations! :)

I agree Reno. Sure the 880 can have more bass but without careful use of the tone controls it gets its knickers in a twist with dsl. The 950 has a cleaner tone and a natural warmth. Loveliness. Simple and elegant. Very clever electronics inside and built to last.

What a nice gesture from AO , feels so great to see this kind of moves and he even bring it to you T-Ster.
Inspiring at least i d say.
I also have a 950 but its front face is not in the best of condition. Can you post a pic of the old 950 you had?
    Maybe i could use it.
