Sorry if this has been posted already but it's a treasure trove of magazines in PDF form. Between this and Google Books it's easy to get lost reading the older articles. There's more on older equipment but I've found a few Walkman Articles in here. http://www.americanradiohistory.com/
I'm checking out Audiocraft July 57, how to put a tape deck in your car, 7" reel to reel tape! These old articles are cool because they also tell you how to put in the power supply and build the enclosure for the unit. I also love the HeathKit Ad, I've got a A-9B that was a curbside find, I grabbed it and an Eico Tuner and a bunch of odds-n-ends years ago. $35 USD in 1957, I'm sure that was pretty expensive back then but they are built to last forever. http://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-Audiocraft/Audiocraft-1957-07.pdf
I had found that site before but definitely worth a browse. Check out Electronics Today (on the site). That was a cool magazine with lots of future predictions and news on the latest Hi-Fi processors etc that I got as a teenager in the late 1970s. Another UK magazine worth looking at on the site is Practical Wireless. The mid 1970s editions often have double page listing style adverts of all the Japanese Hi-Fi separates shops were selling. p.s $35 = one and a half weeks wages https://www2.census.gov/prod2/popscan/p60-028.pdf
Page 30 of High Fidelity, they are calling the Bell & Howell Portable Tape Unit a "bass boom box" Maybe the first use of the terminology? http://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-High-Fidelity/70s/High-Fidelity-1970-12.pdf
Forecast FM, some of the issues have pages and pages of audio ads, unfortunately it's limited to mid-70's Superscope and Sony Cassette Players but the home equipment is really cool. http://www.americanradiohistory.com/Forecast-FM.htm
