This past weekend has been definitely a date to put a mark in the calendar, at least to me. I don't remember to have such a great time recently... I was CJ'ing myself for the first time in my life! Yes, I'm CJ Walkman Archive (CJ for Cassette Jockey) since then ;-) The party had place in the new bar of "La lata de bombillas" (the bulb can, once translated), a bigger place than the previous one. Photo by Diego Egido, taken with an analog camera and scanned. At first, it would be driven by my friend Lorenzo, @TJ Autoreverse, but he insisted that I join the party too so we both drive it. And finally I accepted. Some walkmans from Lorenzo: DDII, DD33 and some mine: red DD30 and the real gem, TPS-L2. That friday I was a bit nervous -I confess- because I've never done such thing and I also didn't know how to use his 4 track recording board, a Fostex with cassette. We arrived to the pub just 45 minutes before the start and all the set-up was still to be made, and I still have to dinner, so you may guess... Lorenzo explained me briefly how to mix with his board and I did some practice. In the beginning it wasn't good but I quickly got used to it. Nice. I think if I were going to do anything like that, I would only be comfortable in using my D6C’s anything else would be too cumbersome to deal with.
Very cool event to be at, Hugo. Being a Cassette Jockey isn't easy work, so it's nice to see you doing some practice and have fun doing it. Thanks for the pictures and video. Nando.
A cool party for sure. It brings me back last time I was CJ'ing. A party at school gym with two boxes: a Sanyo stereo and a Grundig mono, a little mixer, an Optimus P.A. amplifier (spanish P.A. products brand; not the american one) and two big six woofer hired speakers like used on fairs. It was circa 1.980...
hi Chris. You're right that the most convenient for the task is the D6C for sure. This layout of controls (like the TPS-L2) is perfect. The other DDs are not so convenient but we decided to use so peope can see we were really using small walkman and non-professional gear or even decks. I think I'll search for some D6C more just in case... Thanks Nando! I invite you to try it someday. You cannot imagine how cool is that and how much will you enjoy! Now I want to do it again! Yes, it was cool indeed. Oh, so you were CJ'ing too in the 80s? Nice. BTW, I guess you aren't maybe too far from Zaragoza so you can come and enjoy too the next time...
