Been trying to think of something interesting for my first post in the Walkman section of the new forum, decided on this:

    A Harrods branded HAR-505 (HS-P505mkii)

In beautiful condition and I really like the colour, but mechanically it's fine sound-wise it needs re-capping :(
I also managed to find a Harrods cassette :)
Never seen another of these nor any other older Harrods branded audio products.

The amount of money they had to pay to make that AIWA model their own Ad icon!

I have this original AIWA but never seen such licensed one. Also I don't know that brand nor what it sells. It has no presence in my country. As we say here: it's rarer than "a green dog"...

Hey everyone thanks for all the comments, I have no ides how many of these were manufactured or how many Harrods may have sold. I have tried searching for information but found none.
These may have been corporate gifts I really have no idea?
For anyone who has never heard of Harrods, it's a huge world famous department in Knightsbridge London frequented my the rich and famous with prices to match on a lot of merchandise.
Here's a link to some info:

An interesting find. The green colour is the Harrods colour which is also used for their carrier bags etc. For those who know Bloomingdales in New York, Harrods is similar. They do sell a lot of Harrods labelled items, mainly to tourists. Some of the tourists turn up in their Arabian registered Lamborgini's or Bugatti's park them on the no parking zones outside and go in for a spending spree.

What would be interesting would be how much the Harrods Aiwa cost compared with a standard model. My guess would be a 50% mark up.

I love the color of this Walkman and have never seen any other Walkman with this color. So apparently was made for this department store. Thanks for sharing. Does it come in another color?

The green is very much Harrods colour associated with their shop.
Looking at their web site they will sell you a nice little bag suitable for your Walkman and headphones

Not much of interest there on the audio front any longer although f you wanted to upgrade the headphones you might like these:

They would go nicely with Hugo's Gold Walkmans
