now that i got my 701s back from repair i want to use it - but not with the original headphones, as a) i hate those thingys in my ears and b) i want to use my Grados.

i know the jack-adaptor exists, in fact i think i had one, searched like a fanatic - but it's gone :-(

anybody got one for me, please ?

    thanks loads !

I have two questions - it’s frustrating because on this image http://www.walkman-archive.com/gadgets/walkman_sony_05_701c_v3.htm the alignment is literally the pins for any stereo mini jack. The remote delivers a voltage down each pin depending on what function is ordered, and the unit interprets and applies. So its really simple, just irritating if you have a need for your own headphones...

Second question, what grado headphones? I often enviously look upon them

@autoreverser Good Call!! For $30 u can get a nice pressing from Acoustic Sounds Chad Cassem's LPs... Music First!
Why did I pay $1k for Shunyata power cords... each... for my stereo??? No more space for LPs, myguess... Or too much cash to waste?.. Or just being lazy, the headache of buying $30 LP of Miles or Tchaikovsky and then, placing it on the shelf, realizing that I already have a copy, is Sad!!! Makes me feel old... Obsessing about hardware is soo much more rewarding: you have it or you don't, easy! Do I have "Return to Forewer" on LP or SACD? Painful question, I have to check first! o_O

    hahahaa, well shouted, lion !

in fact, after Brandon's first post, i had contacted the seller on ebay, asked him if he still has an adaptor and offered him 20 pounds incl. shipping (to germany), wich for my opinion is a very fair offer.

wellwellwell, for some or the other reason, immediately that other adaptor appeared on "gumstick" for a 30 pouds - and -ho funny - the seller even got the same name...

...one could get the impression that somebody got a bit greedy here ?

i'm out. i still want an adaptor but for a reasonable price

I messaged him on Gumtree and said surly the price is negotiable his reply was.
"I’m getting lots of replies on this so suggest you act fast if you want it as you’ll know how rare these are. Best wishes"

Sure one will turn up : )

If you don't care about the original earbuds/phones , you could desolder/snip them and add a 3.5mm jack connector .
It's what i did for my panasonic rq-s60, I used wire nuts to tighten the wires independently instead of soldering.
    Pros:
    - quick and easy to replace.
    - let's you use simultaneously the remote functionality with your favorite cans/speakers
    Cons:
    - cheap and bad sounding included earphones have to go (you can re-solder them of course)

... OR you can sell original headphones to a "real" collector ;) and use the funds to buy that adapter plus some vinyl!!!

I do not collect Walkmans (Discmans, tactical folders, plastic jet models, stamps, Japanese boxes of mini-LP CDs, whatnot... but not Walkmans) but from what I see WM-701 with headphones are listed for double $$ of just 701!

grass will grow over this issue and one day i'll grab one of these for a decent price (...or find mine somewhere in one of my uncounted accessory-boxes),
but if i find out the part-no., i'll p.m. you
