    Hi all.

Need to repair a set of MDR-3 headphones. I actually think they are beyond repair so I'm looking at placing new headphones into the old shell.

Any idea on what headphones would fit the headband and shell?

Also needing a hotline mic and cables as the one on my newly acquired TPS-L2 is missing (along with the metal hinge on the lid)

Headphones the biggest issue though. Getting little sound through one side and have a kink in the cable. This happens on all players I have tried it on - when using new headphones on the TPS it works fine so it's definitely a headphone fault.

    Many thanks for any help!

It sounds like a cable fault, nothing more. It's an easy fix.

You can either recable them or open the affected side and check the solder points between the cable and the driver.

Be careful as you opening the headphone. Plastic that's almost 40 years old can be brittle.

    Many thanks.

I'm wondering where I can get a Sony branded cable from to keep it authentic... There is a kink in the cable so it definitely needs replacing.
