luckily found a 2nd Thorens TD124/II with original TP14 arm - still had a selfemade plynth and eliptical mono-needle for a Shure M95 pickup, a PERFECT shellac - spinner, havin' a Hank Snow hobo-session right now (...cheers !)
what a beauty, Congratulations!!! The only reason I do not envy you is because I do not have any more shelf space for extra toys. And no shellac... But I play the cassette that you sent me pretty often, it still sounds AWESOME
yay, thanks Jorge if you get tired of the tape, please let me know - two more Yma Sumac shellac-albums arrived lately...
Not tired yet! Your tape was the reason I was soo anxious to fix my LX-3 when it got Orange Cap Disease: all my other tapes are recordings of my own LPs. Once I figure out how to repay you, I will definitely go for another tape. The problem was nicely spelled by my fav King Crimson: "What can you give a man who has everything?... You can only take from him..."
Well there are issues for sure. He sent me a mixtape recently and now i find myself listening to country and folk music in the car....
That's a nice looking table! With two you'll be able to set up a proper DJ rig. I have only seen two high end tables in the wild, years ago in northern Wisconsin there was a radio station table at a thrift store, I can't remember the brand, and then an English-made see-through acrylic table was at an estate sale. While the old valuable stuff was being thrown out at the sale, they wanted big dollars for the acrylic table, I don't think it ever sold, I did get 3-4 boxes at the sale.
I had to look up shellac records, we've got a pretty large store in town here called Vintage Music Company. http://vintagemusiccompany.com/index.html http://www.startribune.com/why-this...tten-music-god-wants-me-to-do-this/439675263/
Small world! I was in there once but I was a little more interested in some of the equipment they had. They really have a lot of old records.
