Always loved the lines of the J501. Quite possibly the nicest white walkman. Sony had a real knack of choosing the perfect colours for their designs.

yeah. design-wise my all time favourite is still the WM-504 - with a reel-to-reel-cassette it looks like a Nagra SN !

It's funny, both units were based on pretty run-of-the-mill internals but the cosmetic designs just nailed it. All very Apple if you ask me.

It's funny you mention that but it really sums up Apple, beautiful cosmetics based around slightly below par internals. Keeps intrest high and cost to produce low though.

Fo2 a two year collection that is pretty stunning. I really like the WM101, stunning look and great colours.

Tre I couldn't agree more. I've spent a few pennies collecting this series and others but the 101's just beam for me. I have 2 Blue, 2 Red and one Black 101's.....always on the hunt for more....if my wife let's me.

I have another blue 101 coming and also a 104. Recently received a red and silver WM 30 but on the red one seems to work. Pity cause the silver one is in better condition.

Guys, let me ask you something: what kind of lighting do you use to photograph those items? I like the results. Please let me know?

No lighting. Just natural sunlight for me. Just need to wait for the right time of day and angle the walkmans so there is no bright reflections.

Got it - thanks. I was overthinking it! Was going to get a professional lightbox or something. Sunlight:vIn my case that would be around 3-4pm =)

I shot these with a combination of 60% natural light and 40$ artificial lighting. BTW, they are part of my collection. Will post the whole collection soon (new to this).
