NEW DD DOOR CATCH BEING BUILT

I know.... New Cases, Stickers and of course, Marians truly awesome Gears...

Well, I have something new up my sleeve..

So, as many of you know, I own a visual effects studio and we provide a lot of laser scanning for Marvel and Disney etc.

I decided to scan the Door latch for the DD models. This has always been a weak design point. They all seem to go, and with no spares available, you either have to trawl ebay or resort to a rubber band.

The plan is to take the scan and use that as ref to design a new version with more "bite". I will then print a limited run of these using our super awesome FormLabs SLA printer in Tough engineering resin.

These will be UV cured for three days for strength and then primed and spray painted.

I will probably sell them in packs of three, to keep you going for a good few years

Not quite sure I get the modern times / Charlie ref.... but yes, watch this space. Quite an easy job, assuming all the DD units (not the DD9) use the same part...

it sure does! Anyone know the original springs spec?

 

Unfortunately I do not have any extra but if you don't get appropriate answer I might open a D3 to show it to you

 

i have found a custom spring maker in the UK. They just need to know the length and width in mm

 

will keep my eye on this and order as soon as they are available

Hi guys! I just now registered SPECIFICALLY for this! If this does indeed become a reality, I'm in for 2 (one for my daughters DD3, and one for my DD30)! Will the resin material hold up better than the plastic has?
