As it happened with other favourite bands i posted a long time ago like for the Beastie Boys ----> http://www.stereo2go.com/topic/beastie-boys-boombox-edition.htm or The Clash ----> http://www.stereo2go.com/topic/the-clash-boombox-edition_page=1.htm Thought it was time to post some pictures of their Boombox and pay my respects to another favourite band this time Public Enemy! From the early days of Hip-Hop here comes a Great Group which needs no introduction to you guys (i guess!) The Tecsonic MX-9000 ( http://wikiboombox.com/tiki-index.php?page=Tecsonic+MX-900E ) was a permanent feature on their Live Shows from 1987 till 2010 when it was donated by Chuck D at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. A good article to read is this one too ----> https://www.washingtonpost.com/grap...n-history-and-culture/must-see-exhibit-items/ I am Lucky enough to own one Tecsonic but i didnt know that it was a Public Enemy's bbox till this very day ! Who can forget the scene of a young Jack Connor being chased by the Terminator wearing a Public Enemy T-Shirt and blasting You Could be Mine via an ''egg''. They released an album this past July too which i havent heard yet but soon i will. I love the Album artwork though ! Anyway i am leaving you with a classic !
Well one never stops learning, although I am surprised to find out that you didn't know about the Public Enemies! The Techsonic is such a visual and iconic unit that there exist at least a hundred akas around (starting from the ICS STR 5091)
Thought that Public enemy might have a bbox but never thought i would own the same too! Its true Sal that there are many akas in existence and if you say the word boombox its the exact shillouette of a Tecsonic that comes in mind. I d love to own the Palladium 879-584 aka of it. http://wikiboombox.com/tiki-index.php?page=Palladium+879-584 And yes you can see the deterioration of this boombox through the years passing by if you check the pics closely
The Palladium is a very nice black aka. I do have one (well, it's more the shell than the box but that's what I found at the fleamarket), as well as an ICS STR and a lovely golden Star Line -- in my opinion the most elegant of them all
Great post Deech! I never knew the Smithsonian had that box in it's collection! You've got a museum piece on your hands Deech. Like the article says..."There's only one place it could go"
