I don’t understand this constant need for approval / validation by others, no one seems to know what they like anymore until others like them. Social media is killing individualism, Facecrack has a lot to answer for this. Lucky for me I don’t do such things.

I look at it like laughing at someone's jokes... showing appreciation.

It’s funny on a different forum I go on. Last week a guy posted
“I have these 2 tape decks which one sounds the best, I just want people’s opinions”
He has the decks in from of him, why not just listen to them and make up his own mind? I can never understand those kind of questions, which sound idiotic to me or is it just me?

Depends. Certainly when I was inexperienced, I didn't know what I was listening for. People were saying things like "muddy in the bass," etc. but it wasn't until I heard these things myself, that I finally understood... and then I knew what I was looking for.

But if you have these things side by side, you would be able to hear a difference even if you don't know what are listening for.
This person was comparing a Nakamichi BX-300 and a Sony Walkman D6C, if he can't tell the difference he should not have such units as they are too good for his ears and he just wasted his money.

If you are refering to the thread I believe you are...someone replied a pithy reply regarding the zesty comparison of sounds recorded.
With regard to opinion and self-approval and self-confidence lacking, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

Wonder why such a fruity remark?
