Sorry if this hurts people, but after being a member of this site since around 2002/03 this is the worst i have seen of it, Like Where did everyone go ? it's dead, the only thing missing is the tumbleweed, i get the feeling like it's like an old pop band that won't give up, what a shame, it used to be a great place to be..
As a relative newcomer to this site, I can't comment on what it was like in the past. Was there a shift in the dynamics because of less time available for members to be as active as they once were? Perhaps, each of us can contribute more in the future and not wait for someone else to make the first post or begin a new thread. There seems to be key members who are proficient in repairs, or have a great collection, or really know their portables who lead most of the conversations. I will try to be more active in conversations. Nando.
Yo Ghettoman, don't give it up. Some of us are busy at the moment but most of us share your same concern. Have a look at this thread: http://stereo2go.org/forums/threads/suggestions.1508/ Unfortunately the thread lost momentum, but I'm pretty sure that it depends on outside factors. I can speak for myself only, and I can tell you that I'm busy as hell at the moment. The same, I suspect, is true with docs, deech and the others who will undoubtedly resume permanent service asap. Meanwhile, welcome back old friend! I remember vividly some of your great posts even before I registered and was just a lurker by the thousands. Wish you posted again, soon, with many wonderful pics from your great collection.
Rather than telling the site is not productive, start by imagining what it would be like if things were to improve.
I am here from time to time & as cassette2go in youtube you can follow me here www.youtube.com/user/Cassette2Go/videos I have just got over being 58 and I am on the way to next year
OP reminds me of my fav Audiogon forum: A Lot Of Action and "friendly folks" out there r jumping at your throat! Fun but mildly unpleasant! S2G has much milder, "friendlier" vibe... I love being here!!!
Very good comments Jorge. This morning I was reading a thread on a different site and the language got very heated all because people couldn't agree whether the User Interface on a PVR was bad or very bad ! As for the next two comments were Blondie Punk or Disco ? That probably depends on what side of the Atlantic you are.
Me too actually, Bad Boys Blue, Fancy or, dunno, A-ha, or Alphaville to Sex Pistols or Exploited but just a citation came to mind..
I like those three. Funny thing is that most people in the UK think of Alphaville as a one hit wonder with "Big in Japan". Until my Polish girlfriend played it too me about five years ago I had never heard the masterpiece that is "Forever Young".
I have never hard this before just now Alphaville - Forever Young ~Official Video www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1TcDHrkQYg
Nope, they are not. Alphaville is one of the best synth-pop bands of 80s, IMO. Love their several albums, namely the first 4 ones: 1984 Forever Young 1986 Afternoons In Utopia 1989 The Breathtaking Blue 1994 Prostitute
In the UK we were spoilt for choice with Synth type bands in the 1980s The Human League Duran Duran Depeche Mode - who were very synth orientated for their first few albums OMD Heaven 17 Soft Cell Tears for Fears Howard Jones and then various other singers like Kim Wilde whose brother Ricky used Synth backings. The pioneers Kraftwerk, and later on Aha were the only European synth bands that made much of an impression here. p.s As it is getting late here is a fantastic synth tune that I have never heard on the radio. I can't think why p.p.s If anyone outside the UK doesn't know who Kim is she supported Michael Jackson on the European part of his Bad tour and is still going strong.
