Recently I went to Els Encants, a very big flea market here in Barcelona. It's a very well organized place, very big, with lot of stuff and small stores selling their 2nd hand stuff. There are some antique stores and even a vinyl store. And the typical men with almost every rubbish you can think of. View 360ยบ here. There I found some nice cassettes, mainly from BASF. One of my favorites is the one see above, with it's strong, saturated orange. Very nice. Here they are: I love this design, both in type I and II. It's interesting that this tape is very close to the IEC I reference, so it can be a good tape to make frequency response tests. One of my favorite SONY designs, for sure. Now this is clearly a fake (clone) tape. It's funny to see it...
Great find ! I must have a look, somewhere I must have a full load of older tapes - got inspired - will dig'em out soon !
I have a flea market near where I live too. Open on Sundays and Wednesdays. Might have to take a trip down there this weekend. Nice finds by the way
There is a flea market close to where I live every Sunday morning, but cassettes are treated more or less like junk. I bought some pre-recorded tapes and indeed they do sound decent, as for blank tape I only bought a few cassettes: The Sony Type III is only a collectible item, the tape is in terrible condition; the TDK SA-X seems in very good conditions, but the tape has drop outs and in the end I like what is already recorded on it
