Models to promote the portable sound idea were used long before than you might think, enjoy. 1938 60's 70's 80's 90's Late 90's early 00's
Amazing that you found one from the 1930s Here is one for the 1940s, although the equipment was definitely not for entertainment. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=w...=MiZgWMOiO9nBwQKrl4fYDA#imgrc=hdJAl9zkpLm8GM: I'm struggling a bit to find one for the 1950s. The only women with headphones seem to be telephone operators
40's were tough after the war, 50's on the other hand were much better so there must be an advert from that era ,google has too many things but NOT everything if you need to dig too deep. The 1938 photo amazed me too when I found it ,it is a crop from a photo that was published in Short Wave and Television magazine about an electronics exhibition in Paris in 1938 !
1950s Lots of pictures women listening to radios (or wireless set as they were then called) but it is the headphones I am struggling with.
I like that one from 1938, very slick for it's time. Sometimes you will find amazing technological stuff from around the 20's to 30's.
you'll excuse my hijacking of the thread, but I'm a boombox guy. hence, in painterly fashion: 21 yr old walking girl with Siemens Club 794
You're never too old for Old School...unless you're Betty White. She's still lugging it around better than I could Sorry for the slight thtread hijack. This one's for Samovar!
The lovely lady from 1938 that started this thread never thought that will lose her first place. I'm happy to present you the new queen of walkgirls : Mrs. Gertrude Rothery of Augustus Downs operating the first pedal radio on June 19, 1929! Listening to the radio and exercise at the same time with a pedal machine (generator) in 1929 . 20's hi tech ! Not exactly portable but you can take it anywhere and you have to use your feet while you wearing headphones and works with its own power. (actually yours) 1929
