Hello everyone. Upon reading up, it looks like DD 33 is the best option for now, any alternate suggestions?

Well, you'll need to factor in the cost of the centre gear repair as well.

In order of preference, I'd put the DC2 first. However, the 33 is more readily available and not subject to such overblown prices as the DC2 yet. It's also a very good machine. I just had a few DD's repaired by Marion M. And the work he did on my 33 was amazing.

Yes the DD33 is looking like the best option at the moment for a reasonable price DD Walkman, but for me the price is still way too high. Just keep an eye out for one and I am sure you will find one at a reasonable price.

I personally would not pay the prices people are asking of late, if people stop paying this prices then the prices will come down. I just sold a DD33 to a member here for £40 but I had removed the main gear to use on one of my 6 DC2’s.

If you are struggling and cannot find a good DD33 for a reasonable price send me a PM and I may be able to help you with a DD33. I have many DD33’s but only have one left that work, I will probably never use it again as I have all the DC2’s plus 3 working D6C’s.

No, the DD30 is not recommended.
    If looks unimportant, the DD33.
If sound is important, I find the DD2 the best variant for under 200$.

Ok. DD II doesn't have the quartz locked drive how much of a deal is this in practice and also does the DC2 better sound even without dolby on?

Nice you got there in the end, do you know if you are getting the carry case with it?

I finally received my DD33!! It is in great condition. I love this transport, most stable transport I have ever heard on a walkman. And the weight.. it feels like quality.

Sound quality however is not really that great. It gets very loud and all but the dolby implementation is not as good as the later models and it has an old radio type sound to it. it sounds a bit hollow and dull.
