My M90 doesn't play casettes while on battery power?

stretch - 2009-09-01 19:00

I just got an m90 in excellent condition, but I noticed that it will only play casettes while on plug power. As soon as I unplug it the tape stops. It does everythig else while on plug or batery, but it just doesn't play tapes while on battery! Is it due to the batteries not being strong enough to power the deck or something? I'm very confused, due to the fact that it works just fine while plugged in.
Someone help me please Smile.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I find it makes no sense. How could the casettes play while on ac power, but them not play at all on battery?

It may have been the batteries that I replaced with fresh ones, or it may have been me pushing the power button, but it works now :P.

Hmm, interesting. I've been looking at the schematic and didn't see any real changes between AC and DC operation that would account for the symptoms you are experiencing. Make sure that the cord is NOT tethered when using batteries since the A/C cord, when plugged into the jack, disconnects the batties from the circuit. Also, maybe your batteries are low. Try with a fresh set. Also, make sure that the battery terminals are clean and giving full contact. Can't think of anything else. If you find a fix, please let us know what you found.

I bet you still had the power cord tethered. Unplugging it from the wall will indeed kill power to the boombox, even with batteries inside. You need to unplug the cord from the boombox, not just the wall, if you want it to work using the internal batteries.

That was it I'm pretty sure. I had left the cord attached to the box, but unp[lugged from the wall. I had no idea the cord being plugged into the box would keep the batteries out of the circuit. It works now though Smile. This box is complicated Razz
