The tires on the pulleys are worn. If you press and hold the ff or rew button with the door open and hold your finger against the spinning part and it becomes stronger or harder to stop, then it is the idler tire that drives the rewind then springs over for ff that is worn out. Some are very difficult to work on you may have to remove several tiny springs , circlips and parts to get it done.

Problem for me always is when that screw drops on the floor,or the circlip goes flying, or the spring launches I just wish, well I wish, I had a magnetic floor! lol

Good luck with your repair

thanks stynger If I hold the spinning part it stops..also if you press the ff or rw it stops after maybe 5 seconds without a tape in it.. would that be the problem with tires aswel and are these tires behind the spinning things

Before you change anything, see that your motor isn`t weak, place your finger against it when you press play. If it is strong, then proceed. The tires are on the part looks like a pulley that moves into position when play/ff/rew is pressed. They are very small, they fit tight around the pulleys , no play. May as well change everything rubber while you have it apart..Good luck! Smile
