rechrome of sanyo

saxonman - 2009-10-26 10:10

Thought I would have a go at rechroming my sanyo !!! this is my first go at it and I am pleased with the results.I used some tape which was left at my place after the builders had built the wall something to do with the inside insulation.
is the before and this is after

well done, saxo, but i think, it would be better to do it with mirror tape/sticker, it looks like real chrome. u can buy it at bigger shop for house building/repairing. here's my example of some chrome work:

radio frame and biger rings of big speakers - miror tape.

top view of same Hitachi and russian Tom':

btw, i've printed new function names with funny machine ,called Label Buddy (no batteries needed), u can get it for very cheap @ ebay, there's wide range of coulours of the tapes. Looks good for me on the Hitachi, but not so good on that russian.Best solution for function names could be one of the Dymo printers

it is possible to print black letters on clear tape, or black on silver, or black on yellow, u just need to buy right tape for that printer.

Real re-chroming can be very pricey (a bmx to do is about £200 Eek)

some great ideas there Wink

you could try the link below to do the letters

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/E-Z-Rub-...?hash=item4837c6b12d

or some thing close

and just found this - watch the dry rub off decal paper vid - you could print your own missing letters - you just need to find out what type face was used on your box

hope this helps - cheers B

What model is that Hitachi, Brigadier? It's unusual for such a small 'box to have bass and treble controls.

brigadier.vytas - 2009-11-25 01:59

Hitachi TRK-8020EW , bro.
