phono problems-vz2000

andyboombox - 2009-12-10 02:29

hello techy guys.
just got my vz2000 yesterday, and the phono is duff- put record in, motor noise whirs into life but the record woulnt play!
ive checked, and protective covers are off the styluses, the styluses themselves look ok,and the transit bolts have been removed by me out the back.
how about a bit of a masterclass in how to change/check the turntable belt without having to take the phono section completely out?because i dont want to start dismantling this thing.the handbook shows how to fit a new stylus but weirdly enough doesnt show how to check or change the belt. Frown
thanks in a dvance for your help! Frown

hey ck, thanks for the link, but i didnt want to remove the mechanism....i think it was chancenellie that told me you can quite easily change the belt-but we didnt take that any further at the time as i didnt have the vz delivered by then so wasnt sure.im sure you should be able to do it without taking out the mechanism- surely?

[ Deoxit ] , is the stuff, comes as a spray-aerosol - normally, but sometime's as a liquid ... to apply hmmm,,, well it's a bit like brushing your teeth - you do know how to brush your teeth? After spraying liberal amounts into the 'pot' rotate the 'pot' back-n-forth a few times, rinse w/air, repeat a few times,,, Then use a can of air in this case to rinse with & one more teeny shot of deoxit as a lubricant after all that cleaning ,,, should work nicely after that Wink

Curious uh did you even Look???? at pictures 1,2,3,4 in this Thread and the other link in there referring to the exploded view of this entire vz2000 near the bottom of that thread. Now I wonder if there is any way possible to get a belt in there without removing the casing to this unit?

If it needs a belt i have one which is pretty long so if you can measure yours you can have it Andy!!! I use a cheap contact/switch cleaner which seems pretty good got it of the ebay for around 4 pound with postage!!! only a small can.
