hi mate,i can say it probebly is'nt the belts, but what i think it is,there is tiny little idlers deep within each deck,1 for play,1 for FF and one for Rewind, each idler has a rubber tyre, they need cleaning, but thats not guarentee'd a perminent cure, when you clean them, some times it works, but sometimes it only works for so long then goes again..i think (personally) it was a bad design by sharp, because if them little idlers need replacing, the chances of you buying any new ones are virtually Nill..i reckon they should have stuck totally to belts only..less messing and easier to fix..

It's a common issue seemingly on the GF7xx, GF575, GF8989, GF9000 etc... as gettoman says it's the rubber drive tyres wearing down. Sometimes they wear shiny and can be given a new grippier surface with some light emery cloth. Sometimes they can be taken off the wheel and turned inside out (unless they're bevel edged). My GF9000 is getting a bit sluggish at times for the same reason. Frown

I replaced them on my jvc with rubbers i got on ebay just little rubber rings they are round in profile but worked!!I can asume it's the same on the gf767 also i can asume it is a pain of a job!!!
