Azimuth setting needs adjustment or something in tape transport allowing the tape to wander.

Yep, could be azimuth out, up/down play in the capstan shaft, worn out pinch roller, cassette not seating properly etc.... try recording on a tape on that machine, then play it back and see if the problem still manifests itself. If not, then the azimuth is not 'standard' and needs adjusting.

Yo thanks alot i'll check that and report ..

Hey

you were right - the cassettes weren't seating properly. Reason is: the tape doors have those little things on the lower right and left corner (on the inside) that fit into the corresponding 'holes' on the front cover, right? Those are worn out so the spring pushes the tape doors upwards cos they don't have that 'grip' in the latter places (underrrrstand?). Until i think of a solution for this i don't use the springs which makes the tapes remain in the right position.

Next issue (motor dying?) coming up tomorrow ..

Thanks and greets to all
