Weak M9994 FM Reception

ghettoboom777 - 2009-02-24 21:31

Hi everyone-I just recieved my Sanyo M9994 and it works great except the FM is a little weak..
Now I replaced 1 antennae on the right(with a small one-all I have right now) and hooked up a wire on the back for the left and it's better but the meter barely goes to 1.
Not enough for FM Stereo to come on.
AM is pretty good-I have signal strength on AM.
Now I opened up the back and the original FM wire that goes to the antennae I believe has been replaced.
The antennae wire on the back looks all good like normal but the Original plug that goes on the back is not there where the 2 prongs are.
Someone soldered 2 wires (Very small gauge I might add) to the back where the prongs are that went to the original plug.
I'm pretty sure that with 2 original good antennaes that it will be much better and I need to get the original ant. wire to be hooked up the back.

I love this thing! The cassette works very nice-very loud and powerful!
I need a glass cover w/2 plastic screws and a tuning knob and 2 ant.
Then this thing will be very wick!
Any suggestions or anyone who has one could you show me a photo of the back where the antenneas are and exactly what type of wire. There is 1 prong that doesn't have anything going to it and I'm wondering if that's normal(it's to the right where the 2 ant. prongs are)?
I would appreciate any help on this.
Thnaks-GB. Smile

Have you tried to deoxit the tuner Smile

Open the back cover. On the left board (in the middle if I remember well) there's a potentiometer with a "19 kHz" label next to it. Tune in on some station with a strong signal. Then try accurately to adjust the potentiometer so that "FM Stereo" LED turns on. Maybe this will help.
