Need help with sharp777 no sound....

blaster - 2008-05-21 16:14

i was blasting it some time ago and it all of a sudden the sound went...didn't smell anything...VUs didn't move..but power was still on check all functions and nothing...so i immediately thought it was the amps chips...so i ordered a pair of NTE1606...and replaced them...so after that i thought everything was cool...same problem...anyone has a similar experience? what else could it be?

when i turn it on i do here like the normal short click pop sound sound your hear when you turn it on but, no amp hissing sound is heard even thru the headphones...

correction there is hissing when i put the volume all the way up...faintly...no FM stereo light tho

Sounds like the same problem my 777 had a while back. It was caused by transistor Q110 packing up.

See my thread here. Hope this helps. Smile

thanks fuzzyduck and your info and suggestions!!!!...it was the exact same problem and solved...but original transistor chip is recommended the same way you did and for this case only...because i tried an NTE one and was faulty...now i also replaced the amps chips thinking that it was that with NTE ones which are recommended but they worked... just trial and error.....

thumbs up with fuzzyduck awesome member!!! Cool

Good news, the NTE293 can be used in place of the D471 and checked with the manufacturer and they told me how... i was afraid to shorten something it is why i called to be safe than sorry...i just had it installed the upside up because of the different shape so it has to be just like the original the letters facing down while the radio is standing...just a tip in case someone else has the same problem...so the NTEs are just as good!!! Cool
