Info on Disco-Lite please

aza - 2008-05-19 02:17

Hello everyone. I have recently put my Vela Disco-Lite in for repairs. The tech rang me to say he was unable to open it and wanted to know if there was something he has missed. Can anyone tell me if there is a hidden screw (much like the one behind the tuning knob on the VZ2000) or some other trick to getting inside this box ?? He said it seems to be caught in the centre area of the box ? Any ideas would be very helpfull thankyou.

there might be 2 screws under the battery cover

i don't recall any tricks when I repaired he last one....The front is what is removed from the back........guts stay in the back section of case.......front face comes off......remove the knobs and open the tape doors.....that should do it

It's probably glued from a prior repair

Ouch!! In that case your tech would need a hammer, crowbar and a chisel.

It will be the model where the discolights are accesable from trhe back cover. The lights are often stuck in the back of the speaker quite tight. Tell him to remove or loosen the lights from the back first. (there are 2 panels on the back of the unit to access the lights without having to take of the complete back cover)

Hope this helps. Roddy

Thankyou for the ideas guys, i will be going there today to relay the info. I didnt look over the box when i got it to notice if it had access panels on the back but it does sound like maybe the 2 centre speakers/lights are holding it together so thankyou Roddy for that description. Will let you guys know if i needed that hammer, crowbar and chisel ! Hope not.
