Lasonic TRC-931 Function Switch Problem

chynk - 2008-05-01 17:17

Hi there, i finally got my first boombox that i've wanted since i was a kid, and i finally got it. It is such a joyous feeling!! Big Grin I even said to myself that i would not get any other boombox unless i get this one first, silly i know but thats just the way i am. Laugh Out Loud

Everything looks great and i got it for $150 shipped. Thanks a lot to the seller for packaging it so well. I hear of stories on how the lasonic is cheap and the parts break when the boombox gets sent out. Frown

Everything is as described, but the function switch doesn't work, i was hoping to use the boombox for my ipod as well besides adding it to my bedroom.

So how would i go about fixing the function switch? Is it just a piece that is broken in side or something? I can turn the knob but nothing happens. It can go in a 360 motion. And the same with the band selector knob. I'm not sure if its broken or what because im not sure what is suppose to happen. Also, i am missing the back cover. Where could i go about getting another one. Does anyone have these parts for sale? Thanks- and heres a picture just for fun even though everyone here probably already has one.

congrats man. they definitely have that koolness thing happening. asfar as the switch there is a white extension inside that might be stripped. i would check that first. and welcome if i havent said it before.

Thanks!! I tried taking the back screws out but am unsure on the type of screws they are. Are they + or - ?

the function switch has a plastic gear on the end of the input shaft ,it breaks and thats what causes the problem ,the only way to fix it is with a new switch or a new gear its a hell of a lot of work taking that switch out so i would find a new one before you go thru all that trouble.its soldered to the pc board and hard to remove unless youve done it before.
