two small allen screws should be holding the door plate on the frame........

In my RX5600 the door has a frame and a plate.
You only need to remove the plate to take remove the front of the unit. The hole that has the front is smaller than the door plate but bigger than the frame, so you only need to release the door plate.
In the RX5600 you slide up a little to realease the door plate from the frame. Mine dont have any screws.
I have also a kenwood deck that you need to do the same. And it has fantasy screws to add looking, but they arent real screws. The frame releases moving it up a little.

Also I have a pana where the plate is holded with two screws (alen).

Check you door carefully before doing something.

That sounds like the C-100F removal process, most C-100F's seem to have had this surgery already.
Laugh Out Loud

I think everybody is right about the panasonic, my 5600 works that way. The tape door slides up off of the frame.
