JVC PC-55JW Lights

ghettoboom777 - 2008-02-12 10:53

Hi-I'm new here but have been collecting boomboxes for years.
One of my favorites is I have a JVC PC-55 JW.
I need the 2 fuse type lights that display the LCD cassette read out.
These are easy to replace but impossible to find.
I replaced them back in about 1990' at acme electronis in Minneapolis and the ones I got were a 8volt .3amp.These worked but were not original.
Now these are burnt out & I can't find these anywhere.
I missed out on getting a deck only on E-bay but the decks alone are hardly ever sold alone.
Can anyone help me on this??

(I'm also restoring a Sharp gf-777. Man am I excited about fixing this one!!I got it for 69.99!!
But that's another story-the radio works but not the cassette's.I'll bet it's a belt issue.)
Thanks-Ghettoboom777

You will have to go to an electronics supply store. No need to buy a whole new deck if you dont need it. The lamps are about five bucks in the U.S. and should be easy to locate. You can also find them online. Try this link.

Hi oldschool69-Dude-Thanks!!
I can't wait to get these-that's just what I've been looking for!!
I wish I had the origianl fuse-does anyone know the original voltage and amperage of this fuse light.
My replacement was a 8v. .3 amp, otherwise I'll just go with that again.
Thanks again-Ghettoboom777. Smile

This guy has exactly what you need.I bought bulbs for my PC550C from him. He ships fast and takes PayPal. In fact I just ordered dial lights for my Marantz from him. He has 8 and 12 volt. You wil need the 12 volt glass tube style. Dial lamps

I don't know the box, only a few photos. It's the backligth from the LCD ?.
Have you test some leds in it's place ?. If there are room where the bulb goes (like an analog vu-meter backside) you can put another thing. Or use the backlight from an standar alphanumeric LCD that's a led array built inside plastic, that shields a quite smooth ligth ...

The LCD display is backlit by two lamps. The bulbs are mounted to a pc board that snaps to the lcd display. there are contacts on each end of the bulbs that hold the bulbs. The bulbs have reuseable blue plastic sleeves that slide off and on to the new bulbs. It is quite easy to replace these bulbs, you should have no trouble, just remember to hook the two wire battery connector when you put the rear cover back on. Wink

Hi skippy69-I already have them out,it's really easy like you said.
I replaced my first set about 1990'.
I bought my PC-55 brand new on sale for $599.99,It was a floor model so i didn't get the box.It was in fantastic condition.
I bought another on e-bay for $222.00 and it's mint!! Everything works perfect lights & display.
I like to have a back-up!
Have a great week-ghettoboom777. Smile
