RX-7700 tuner alignment

matrixambience - 2008-10-13 18:20

My 7700 needs a major tuner alignment job. Does anyone knoww how to do this,or do I have to bring it to a professional. I don't have a service manual for it, so I am kinda scared to just go inside and start turning tuning pots and stuff! Any help appreciated very much. Thanks!

What makes you so sure it needs it?

If so, there are typically tuner blocks that have to be done in order to set the selectivity and sensitivity of the tuner. Then you have the module blocks for AM FM and SW bands......be careful what you turn, you know how the rest of that movie ends if its not done right.....

Oh...I know it needs aligned. On FM, the tuner is pointing at 92 on the dial, but the station coming in is 96.1. Maybe I might just send it to you Kittmaster, what do ya think about that?

I'm still working on appleknockers box which has been problematic.....but if you wish, I can shoehorn it in. I assume tuner realignement is all your looking for??

Did the seller reveal this issue to you? I saw the auction, and did not remember reading that little detail.

No...he didn't mention it, and I didn't ask so that is that. I assumed it would be fine.No big deal...

Well at least it has a weighted tuning knob right? I heard the controls feel pretty slick on that unit. Nod Yes

Oh its a nice radio for sure! There is nothing like it out there and for it being an Aug.1979 model, it was way ahead of its time. It doesn't have the BTL amp thing like the JVC M70, but it holds up very well and the sound is silky smooth at the lower volume end, but can crank up when you need some sheer volume!

Kitt, I just want the tuner section of the 7700 to be correct and realigned...everything else is great on it.I will p.m. you the details.
