Sharp GF-515 cassette problem

Hi all,
i just picked up a 515 today from someone on craigslist. i got it home, and besides a few scuffs here and there, it's in pretty good shape with all the pieces (except a couple screws in the back?) anyway, i immediately plug it in and the radio is scratchy and the right cassette deck is clicking. i got the volumes working right and scratch free, but i can't figure out what is wrong with the deck. i took the whole front off and saw that the (and pardon my lack of proper terms) silver peg bit that holds the tape against the rubber wheel and drives the tape through the deck was going non-stop. i put a cassette in and tried hitting play and stop, record and stop, everything and stop over and over, nothing would make the bit stop turning. at one point, i noticed it did stop, but couldn't figure out what i had done to stop it. of course, it's doing it again now that i closed the box up. any ideas on what the issue might be/ how to fix it? i'm actually just using this box for it's speakers, so in the end i'd imagine i may have to undo the motor connection or something, and just not use that deck.

thanks!

hi can you get a pic of the deck?

hi ramon, i'll have to do it tomorrow, but i do have an update. there is a piece that is broken off and ended up stuck to the back of one of the speaker magnets. this piece looks like it's the culprit in my non-functioning pause button for the left side of the decks, as it matches a broken piece up there. i pulled the box apart again and watched what happens when it clicks, i'll have to indicate it on the photo. one other thing, when i had two cassettes in, and the box was plugged into the wall, it would click until i pressed "play" on the left side (functional) deck. then the right side would stop clicking until i (like an idiot) pressed play on the right side. now it's clicking again, and it won't stop.

well if you have to try to glue that piece in and see if at least that helps then you may have to find a complete deck probably Smile
