I just got my big ben going, and after I put it back together, the chrome around the speakers is falling off. Anyone have a pointer on a spray that can restore the chrome effect?

Not sure how I want to handle this since surely finding replacements will be near impossible.

Any suggestions would be great

By profession I am a autobody painter and have been for 16 years. I wanna try this stuff one day.. the possiblities for boombox repairs are endless!!

The resin knobs would look great with this stuff on them!!!

This probably doesn't help ya, but thought it would be neat for ya to see... a repair is possible... don't lose hope!

Hi Johnny-you paint cars? Do you want to paint my Z-28 possibly? I live in Tn,probably close.
Just an idea-I'm restoring my 1981' Red Z-28.
I actually would just like to have the rear qtrs. and the roof re-painted.The last time that was re-painted the color was off a little.

There are companies out there that (re)plate chrome on plastics.
When I was prototyping my robots, I had the entire plastic eye assembly plated in chrome.
The company that I used was in Taiwan, but I'm sure there's something state-side.
You may want to try automotive restoration services. They may have the ability or resources to (re)plate plastic in very low volume. I'm not sure, but I think they can immerse the entire assembly but make it so the chrome adheres to certain areas.
Suggestion #2 is a super thin adhesive film for plastics. Don't remember the company, but I found them through Google. They sell it in sheets and they showed examples of cell phones and other items with the film on it. Looked great and they have it in chrome.

I'll see if I can find something, it looks real bad. I have some pitting too and some odd clean up which I'll post back later. Still in process of cleaning it up and getting back to 100%

That would be a big help for all members who probably have this dilema.

This was recommended on this site years ago and I have tried it, it was works well. Just not real durable but it solves the problem.

Yeah, it is so fine it conforms to compound curves.

ie: the pix of the model car trimmed in Bare Metal "Chrome" Foil. I'll send you a little bit to test out.

I would try it our first, things often don't work out how they should... But to the unsuspecting eye I bet ya it would!
