sharp vz2000 sound problem - help !

kangas1999 - 2009-04-01 04:06

I have very little sound coming from the RHS speakers when playing a cassette. The LHS speakers are fine.
Also both LHS & RHS speakers work fine when playing a record or using the radio.

what could be causing the problem when playing a cassette ?????

sounds like the record/playback switch needs clean with concact cleaner

gave it a try but does not seem to help.

Any other suggestions ???

Could it be any of the circuit boards or tape mechanism ??

Are your play/record heads squeaky clean and head azimuth in adjustment? and possibly in need of a demagnatizing? Wink Smile

Function selector switch contacts oxidised/worn?
Could even be a bad tape head in theory.. though less likely.

Could a broken resistor cause this problem as I have just found a half broken one (green color). I have not found where the other half is as yet ....

Another thing that can cause that is a
broken wire
connecting to the tape head.
Somtimes it is hidden in the wire
near where it is heald
to the head assembly.

Absolutely, that can cause this problem, particularly if that resistor is in the signal path for the tape playback preamp circuit. Before investigating anything else, that resistor needs to be replaced.
