My boombox wont work with 10 D cell batteries?

I have a lasonic trc 931 that i got a while ago. I finally got around to purchasing batteries for it and i put them in and push the power button, nothing happens.
When i connect the outlet wire with the boombox, it works fine, but when i use the batteries, it doesnt turn on. Is there any way i can go about fixing this?

Thanks a lot

Check two things:

1) Most boxes has a battery disable switch attached to the AC-cord socket. This one enables the batteries only whne you unplg the cord.
2) If the box has a voltage input for direct current (to connect the box in a car-ciggarrette ligther socket), this one also has a battery disabling switch.
3) Some unpluged conector inside ... figure that for servicing, it's very common to unplug the battery wire from the main board when you are removing the back.

Try to plug and unplug both the AC cord and the voltage input (if it has) using some conector that fit inside. Some contact cleaner wolud be great ... but BE CAREFULL with the AC-cord socket ... first indentify where is the enable/disable switch. You will need to have a look inside first. If you found it, spray only the switch .. NOT THE AC PATH !!

Anyway it's very easy to fix.

Oh wow, thanks man!! This is greatly appreciated. I was thinking i would have to sell this and have to find another boombox that works with batteries.
All i had to do was change the switch. It sounds a lot more clear as well because when i used the power cord it would get static, but not anymore Smile Thanks a lot, i feel so foolish Laugh Out Loud Big Grin

try this to see if this may help...try rolling the batteries while inside or put back the cover and tap on the battery cover...sometimes the batteries are not making good contact somewhere and you gotta give it a little help...its happen to me before...works every time... Wink
