I don't know if the Discolites have an auto stop or not but if did and it failed your first look should be a belt. The next step would be the motor itself. After that, if it has one, check the voltage regulation circuit. Some are designed for short bursts for FF/RW only and if stuck in that position burn out easier due to age. If it does not have on and has direct voltage an speeds are purely controlled by mechanical means check for stripped gears.Smile

And of course...WELCOME ABOARD! Big Grin

Hi-If you can get to the capstan(the metal spindle thing that spins)see if it's spinning ,if it doesn't gently try to turn it with the play on and pause on so the pinch roller(rubber round thing that touches the capstan when it's in play)isn't touching the pinch roller and see if that clicks the auto stop on or off.It may free up the mechanism and if your lucky it will spin and it might work again.
But clean off the capstan and pinch roller after you handle them as your hands have oil on them and you don't want to get them dirty.
This is something that worked for me when my auto stop got stuck before.
Good luck-Ghettoboom777. Smile

Hi Ghettoboom777!
I gave that a go but no luck! Frown
I can,t hear anything at all from deck B!
I think when I left the tape on rewind for 25 mins the tape stopped but auto stop only happens in play mode! Consequently the tape head was left in rewind mode for at least 25 mins and I think the belt has broke or motor burnt out!I can't hear anything at all from Deck B!
Is this easily repairable?
I am not that good with electronics so I Don't want to make a mistake!
Thanks for your help!
You the man! Big Grin
