HELP!! BigBen FM Stereo problem

vladi123456 - 2008-01-21 21:20

The problem with my BigBen is when I turn it on - FM stereo light is off. When I flip the Mono/Stereo switch on and off a few times (I circled it in the picture just in case) - the stereo light comes on and stays on. But when I turn the BigBen off and turn it back on - I have to repeat the "procedure" all over again. Anyone has any idea what is up? Please help your technologically challenged brother fix one of the greatest boomboxes in Sanyo's history!! Big Grin

Dude I have the same issue. WIsh I knew how to fix it.

sounds like corrosion in the switches ,i think a shot of tuner spray would fix it right up.

if its not the stereo switch after you spray some cleaner you may have to open it up and adjust the small pot adj for the stereo. vladi i had that happen on a few boxes where i had to adjust the small pot to get her to stay on stereo........

Yup,I was just thinking the same thing Ramon! I Agree Wink

ive never adjusted those things before ,i might i have to give it a try my self.

Ramon and Skippy - it DOES stay on stereo, the problem is - the stereo mode doesn't turn on unless I flip the Stereo/Mono switch a few times, but once the FM Stereo comes on - it stays on.
JVC Floyd - what is "Tuner spray"? Is that not the same as contact cleaner?
Ash25 - how long have you had that issue? I'm afraid from constantly flipping that switch on and off - it might break off or something.

And THANKS everybody for your responses!! Smile

vladi go to your nearst radio shack and look for deoxit or they may have contact cleaner or tv tuner cleaner. i have had good luck with deoxit it a little expensive but works good, make sure you aim correctly inside the switch spray some and move the switch up and down a few times then try to see if that helps......

I just tried that, but it didnt change anything. Maybe I should take it apart and spray it fom the inside. Although I'll have to think about it - usually when I take a boombox apart - I always have extra parts left once I put it back together!! Laugh Out Loud

hey dont feel bad its happens to the best of us..hey and while you are add it spray some on the funtion switch just for incase sounds like a contact issue btw you may still need to adjust the pot that little bit could make a big differance......
