rx-dt 707

Got myself a mint panasonic dt-707,and I'm blown away by the sound of this thing!!I discovered one problem with the cd ,which is that when you increase the volume ,to about-37db,the disk starts skipping,I found that,If you tilt the whole machine back, you are able to increase the vol more without the skipping, thought someone might know the cure for this, before I do a transplant from my 505.
thanks in advance Smile

jack -- glad you now have the experience of this special sounding machine Smile

if the volume is higher than 37 --but the bass control is down --will it still skip ?

ie - the bass may be overpowering the case and causing vibration to the CD rig

if so -before your transplant project-
just try to mount the 707 on some soft rubber.

I Agreeturn the bass down a notch or two that'll stabalize it lol. awesome box .

I agree. I love mine also. Never thot I would want an egg, but this thing rocks.

I new the 707 was meant to be good ,but I didn't expect it to be this good! it must of seriously blown away the opposition ,when it came out in 91!
I tried it out on a soft surface, and it started skipping after about 1 minuite, I don't think it's the vibration,as it can happen without bass, and also sticks in one spot as appose to skipping around, the only cure seams to be to lift the front up.
Thanks for all the advice

yes this is one of the best sounding portables ever made i think. it might not be the loudest the bassiest, but it is so good sounding it dosent need to be.
it really is a fantastic boombox.
min skips too when i play bass heavy tunes through it.

Jack

Do you know that the DT-707 and DT-505 have the same cd unit? Also, is this the same for the DT-75?

jack - 2009-01-30 13:32

They,re all interchangeable,I put a cd unit from 707,into my 75 and it was a straight swap. Smile

Thats handy to know - thanks! Got some cd issues so may need to swap - but I really love these RX-DTs - 707 the pick of the bunch I think..

yeah the dt707 is a amazing boombox.
they werent cheap when they came out. over six hundred canadian dollars here.
i got mine from the original owner for five bucks over my usual limit. it was pretty much brandnew.
good luck sorting the deck.

in terms of bass does it have more, the same, or less than the DT-75, and the Dt-680?

P.S. I'm starting to think the Dt-680 is one of the best boxes out there. But if the DT-707 is just as good if not better, I'll have to look into getting one of them too. Thanks!!

jack - 2009-02-08 08:20

The're both great boxes but the 707,has much richer bass than the 75,I've found that the woofers in the 75s tend to be blown, giving a distorted sound.I don't understand why Panasonic gave the 75 8cm woofers, when the 707 had 10cm ones Confused

panabox - 2009-02-08 11:03

Thanks I'll look at getting a DT-707 next.

I`d rather have the 707 over the 75, sound wise. The 75 need`s more fiddling with to get things working.
