Conion C100F Fault

bods1 - 2011-02-16 14:22

I bought this from gettoman, when he sold it on ebay.

Very cool having one that was featured in Breakin'

Paul told me it had done the rounds with a few members, has some faults I guess others couldn't sort out

Had a look tonight as the Bass And Treble controls don't work at all, the alarm does nothing either, might need some help on that

Anyway the Bass/Treble control fault turns out to be badly designed alps pots, they have a raised edge inside and it's cut through the tracks. did a search for replacements and found this site about Roland equipment with same trouble

http://www.firstpr.com.au/rwi/dfish/pot-wear/

So I just bought some wire glue to repair them, would like to replace if I could get some.

I've also just noticed the cassette door is the same as a GF-777 and is the handle the same too?

Good luck mate...i cant wait to see the outcome....I origionally bought the conion from manlytronix....like i say good luck all the way my friend....altho it's not my conion anymore im exited for you....I actually took it to a repair outfit and the guy swore he had an expert look at it but I somehow doubt this now as they diddnt find the fault like you have...and want for a better expression im sure your no expert but your better than the cowboys I took it to

I've always liked taking things apart and trying to fix them, I started working at a TV/Video repair place, not that they taught us much, apart from stock taking in the warehouse and other crap they could make us do on slave labor YTS poxy wages

I can tell you, out of all the so called engineers, probably about 20+ there was only about 3 that I would call expert engineers, and that was Granada TV Rental. I've done bits of everything, mastered non though

So you have no chance taking equipment like this and getting repair, I wouldn't trust my stuff in many people's hands for sure, if I can't fix it thats it, stays as it is. sites like this help though, there are some very knowledgeable people on the internet, far far cleverer than me and I would praise some of these for sure

Still didn't get my Wire Glue yet, suppost to be immediate dispatches on ebay, hope it's here this morning

Ha ha Yts as i think we all used to call it the yob training sceme...Those were the days man..what was it a full weeks work for £10 extra or something like that....in these days I think they would call it slave labour lol but I did 2 yrs plus extra as a cheese maker for some good people...to be honest I only stayed there so long because I fancied a lass that worked there something rotten

Any news with this bods?????

Yes I repaired the bass pot with some silver conductive paint, took the treble pot out but that one was fine, so put it together and bass/treble now work fine

Sweet... nice one man

How  it was it had zero bass/treble, the sound quality on this box is quite nice and twin amps it's certainly loud, same twin amps that drive the GF-777 but bridged driving single speakers. Always liked it when I first seen Breakin' movie

To have had one when at school must of been amazing, or any big box for that matter.
