SK 909... Belts had to be changed

bredgeo - 2011-05-07 03:56

Hey y'all,

So, yes... When I got the SK, from a good member here, all was working fine (the ex-ownwer said that the belts had been changed). After a few weeks the tape would stop in the middle of the cassette. I could turn it back on but would eventually stop again.

Well, it turned out that the main belt was to wide for (at least one) of the wheels... This one:

It was flipping over that wheel and making 'Play' stop. So I went ahead and changed the main belt and the others, and gave it a good internal clean/dusting.

Here is a pic of the SK open, from the back... and the two screws that are "Hidden" to take off the front (well made Bbox!):

And last little thing I found interesting is... To remove the tape mech part, this section of the battery compartment had to be removeved (held by 3 screws):

All that is it done and it's jammin' again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey bredgeo that is so strange my friend...i swear the belts had been changed...i orded them from a pioneer sight a few yrs ago....sorry bout that my friend REALY i am...to add to that the box must have only been used a handful of times....now you know what a pita the pioneer is to service...

Hey my friend! No worries mate! It gave me the excuse to finally open it up to put the loose wire back in place, any ways... The wire was simply the ground off of the back cove. If not, I did see that I had to put some of the screws back in their original place.

The dude who opened it last just did his job, not more... No love for the Bbox. And two of the screws were swapped (I took no pics of that, for really insignificant)...

BUT

Those 2 screws, one was longer than the other, thus the longer pushed through the plastic, a little like what happened to your M90 a whiles back... Yours was visible. This was on the inside, so not bothersome for not see-able!!!!!

Later!!!!!!

Hey brian you remember that dreadful job on my m90....nice one that's the m90 skippy1969 has now...I had that one for a good few years... hey im glad the pioneer is up and running again...sweet man....hey don't take this the wrong way but im glad the pioneer went wrong with you because if that had happened to me she would have just sat there on a shelf....Iv'e tried to service 909's before and it never was sucessful....I thought I had serviced your's but to be honest I can't remember, cuz I did take one into that place that serviced skippys m90 a few yrs back...your's must have been that one....

Yeah, well... That one's belts look totally not original, thus new... For sure. So it must have been the one you brought in to have serviced. All the belts were cool except for the main one. The dude might have had generic belts and he just pop the best looking one in.

It's all good!!!!!!!
