Cleaning boomboxes

Which is the best way to clean plastic case from smoke dirt, my boom box was exposed long years in smoke environment, and the plastic turn yellow instead of grey as the factory made. I don’t want to erase the factory markings and not to damage case so should I use pure alcohol or some kind or smooth glass cleaner detergent or some kind, special plastic cleaner.

Hi mate,i have the japanese version of the GF9000,mine is the same as yours, but the yellowing is not always down to smoke,if they've been exposed to too much sun over the years, that also turns the plastic yellow, either way, unfortunately there is no way of getting it back to grey again..i tried scrubbing mine, also tried cleaning it with soapy water with bleach mixed in,i tried allsorts,i think the yellow is the the way the plastic itself has gone..but if you find a cure please let me know
