andyboombox - 2011-06-11 01:13

well guys first off my 9990l doesnt have rca sockets, just a 5 pin din socket-so i hooked up a tape deck to it via the 5 pin din-and the output is pittiful, even when the volume is cranked up hard-anyone have any ideas why?

davebush - 2011-06-11 04:38

hey guys as you all know i recently bought one of them and i couldnt figure out the line in, so it turned out that in order to have the line in working you have to have the tape in recording,

now thats insane!!

although i understand the reason, most radios dont need the tape working to use line in,  usually just put it in line in and you are set to go,  to me thats kind of nuts but oh well.

by the way andy, mine does sound ok, when in line in.

question: do you need to have the tape working or in recording mode in order for line in to work?

andyboombox - 2011-06-13 02:39

well first of all dave thats a mighty, mighty kind offer but i think ill reluctantly decline your offer

and lav mate your totally right,i got this box out after a small rest period for it and it has killer sound-as you will remember mate im a bass man and i cant ask for any more with this one,and the look is awesome too!so it will definately be staying (unless something like an rx 5350 or 7700 or something turns up to replace it,which, lets face it,pigs will fly first lol-and if i find one of these at the recycle centre ill show my ass in the high street!

and DT,hey man-when i initially plugged up the din thing i pressed play on the m9990 and that was how i got the faint sound-i cant really try the record side of things because the belts on the sanyo are gone and i aint going inside the m9990!glad yours is up and running, but i seem to recall yours is a K model, which boasts proper line in-for some reason all our sanyos in GB are L models-and all my sanyos have din only!

thanks for the replies guys!

It's a mechanical deck so you don't need belts to try record mode/line in function. That's how I use mine because it needs belts too and I didn't have the right size new one. Heck you don't even need a tape, just use your finger to push the record release in the tape compartment.

the way i do it is: first press pause then at the same time press record & play this way you activate  the cassette mech and you dont have to be recording any thing, hope this help, for the not so savy.

Another point to make on this,if aux is quiet, maybe you would be better off getting a 5-pin lead to female phono, then get headphone to male phono lead, and plug it into a Mp3 player, with that the Mp3 player has a volume on it so you can turn it up so boosting the output making it louder..

This is what i use when i get a box with 5-Din Only input..i use it with either my Sony Nwz818 or my Ipod touch..
