hi folks well i finally plucked up the courage to do the deck on my sanyo m7900 last week, after taking it apart and applying a new belt i put it all back together i was amazed to find that my repair had been successful, albeit the amss function doesnt work-i mean, you can select it on the little switch and the number selector all lights up and everything, but when in play mode you put it in rewind or fast forward with the amss and the rew/ff key doesnt stay down.everything was put back together with love and care, and no leads were snagged/cut or pulled,so its a

Just because you used love and are doesn't mean that nothing went went wrong during the rebelting.  It could be a spring out of place, some interference in the slides, or other mechanical fitment issue.  Also, many of these smaller boomboxes have mechanisms that are very sensitive to belt tension and if the new belt is tighter than the original, it could affect the mechanism.  I know this from experience.  In any event, it sounds like the electrical portion of the AMSS is working but you are having a problem with the mechanism.

press play...then try pressing play And (ff or rew) at the same time andy....the aiwa 880 is like this....i never knew the 880 had music search (took a year to find out) when beaniman explained it to me...neadless to say the 880 has a piculiar search system...

also it could be something as simple as a solanoid being stuck....this will require dissambly again...hope this helps lad...btw congrats on your first rebelting job..

cheers for the advice guys.i know what ya mean Stormin Normin about how delicate these things are-everything was difficult and the only way i could carry it out was to draw diagrams of where things went on my hand lol but it worked-as far as the deck working now anyway-i think ill leave the amss for now-this one of mine was rescued for free from the recycling centre and it was in a real mess to start with-so im just glad to have the deck working now-maybee one day in the future ill have a look again.and tim ive tried the method you said and it didnt work-sounds to me old lad like the mechanisms at fault like SN said.oh and thanks again for the praise for me first rebelt job!i have done a couple of much lesser boxes in the last few weeks and had success there too but nothing as nice as this.......this was my first proper box to try and the amss aside im proud of myself for achieving it.
