read elsewhere about the Sharp gf 9696 9494 9292 9191 and the like about how they used a fuel line from a hobby-store to make a tire for the dreaded Idler-tire needed to make these older sharps operate the take-up reel ... thought that this was in a thread on here somewhere - me am just gonna avoid that series from now on because of that reason and for the fact that if you didnt have this repair performed before the supply of parts dissappeared forever like they have done so by now - that whomever that wished to play their tape's current day would need to go through the above route to fabricate their own little tires for the Sharps and some Sanyo's having the same hidden Idler tire going bad.  These were after being formed glued into place and then being ground or filed down to the proper diameter to ensure proper working consistency.

Again fairly certain that this workaround is in here somewhere

hi chris,i've fixed a box with this problem,i used hama beads,my 8 year old son brought a couple home in his pocket, they are slightly big for the shaft, only slightly though,i just dabbed abit of 2x apoxy mix and left it over night to set,and the next day its was done, not sure how long its lifespan is,but for they price they cost its worth it just for an experiment, and i might have to add that there maybe different sized ones, the one i used was like a hard rubber type..hope that helps (a bit)

heres some on ebay..

Best way to do this fix is rubber tubing from remote control cars like petrol tube or the pvc sleeve from electrical cable....done most of mine with cable sheath....works well but you gotta get all that black goo off first..use isopril which is like alcohol swabs liquid
