Sharp VZ2000E - Problem

oggy - 2011-11-10 09:19

Hi, I have a problem with a Sharp VZ2000E Boombox. Everything works except for the Phono. It doesn't matter if playing side A or B of the record but, in its own electrical brain, it decides to fast forward dragging the stylus across the record, stops and plays a bit the off again it goes.  A new turntable belt has been fitted maybe I disturbed something? Any ideas. OGGY

Do NOT play any more records on it

Play your vinyl records on your Home

equipment ( preferably record to cassette - then

simply play your more durable cassette's in it )

Excellent advice as ever James

Thanks for advise and very sensible it was to. However, I was hoping that there would  be some way of fixing the problem rather that skirting around it.

how doo,i used to have 2 vz2000,gave one to my bro and scrapped the other,i still have the whole record deck with needles ect..was keeping it just incase i came accross another with a prob like what yours has..they are a pain to repair,it could be a number of things, could be as simple as nackered needles,if they are no good they will skid accross the record and the arms loading moter will just follow as its told from the needles,or it could be sensors, the vz's have infrared sensors, maybe one of them have gone abit faulty..hard to say without actually seeing it for myself..

but i would'nt attempt a diy repair,taking one of those apart is a major headache..not for a novice !!

Thanks for your reply Beanie Man. If they wern't worn before the needles are surely now pretty nackered! The choice now is, whether or not to invest in new needles to test the theory - weighty one that.
