Which belts do i need JVC M70

chris69 - 2012-01-18 02:10

Anyone know offhand the correct belt sizes for a JVC M70 or JVC M70JW ?

I had an M70 before but never had to change the belts. I checked on google and the only result i could find was an SBO 7.0 but i want to be sure. Is there more than one belt and if so which are the correct ones?

I have quite a few belts here so i might already have what i need.

No one has ever changed the belts on a JVC M70 on here?

No. Never had to. Don`t like the idea of adjusting that spring.

I hear you there! Never had to change one before on a M70 but sounds like the one i'm getting needs a belt.

My memory is not very good, but, on the m70, i can recall there being a spring, on the flywheel plate. I think?

Hi Chris.

I can't vouch for the accuracy of this posting but it does concur with your size of belt for the m70.

I found it researching another belt kit.

Again be careful..even the author notes it may not be accurate..still I hope this helps Chris

Dear Chris,

I am not a Boombox guy , which is why I have taken a short while to reply to your query ...

After cross comparing the service manual part nos with Russell Industries JVC PRB line

http://www.russellind.com/prbline/xref/jvc.htm

9731201CT Main belt FRM9.6 (Flat belt/medium) inner circumference 9.6 inches
8001602T Counter belt SCY7.0 (square cut .035 X0.035) inner circumference 7 inches

Most decks/boomboxes use flat belts that are approx 3mm wide...(The maximum diameter I currently have seems to be a 9.5mm) They are Code Named FBS for Flat Belt Small

The other belts are usually 1mm thick and square in cross section ( SBO ...square belt other) I have a whole assortment of sizes in 1mm in case you can atleast thread some twine and get an approximate size requirement

So getting you a set of belts shouldn't be difficult
