iv heard that the sharp 8989 has the same amp as the 777 etc, can anyone confirm that at all,if so dose it fit as a straight replacement for one of the amps in a 777?

Nope, 8989 has different amp chip.

The short list of the most common models with HA-1392 as the amp chip:

GF-500, 530, 515, 525, 555, 666, HITACHI TRK-8800.

But I think it's possible to find just an IC.

Hope this helps.

Hmm thanks for you input metad, sound all a bit complicated to me although I do have some of those boxes you mentioned to sacrifice, maybe I just need to give it to someone who has the skills to do it

Cheers Dave, but what do I do with it??? Help!!!

davebush - 2013-02-24 11:31

de-solder the old one and solder in the new one.....easy

Are you sure its this chip thats gone

i agree with dave...make sure its the amp chip thats needs to be replaced....the sound went out on mine once...and that's what i thought....i replaced it...and it didn't help....it was another IC somewhere else that needed replacing...
