Wafer thin speakers - gf 9000

migsta10 - 2013-03-14 14:29

Hey all...

Just purchased a beautiful gf 9000. A bit of dirt and grime around the edges so I decided to give it a clean ... Bring out her pearly whites. By doing so, discovered a nice tear around both speakers. NOOOOOO!!!!

I'm after replacement speakers... What's the best option here? What should I look out for?

Thanks in advance.

Congrats on getting an awesome box!! Such a gorgeous box the 9000

I think a few have changed the speakers on this so I'm sure you can pick up some tips.

Best option  is to find a donor Sharp GF-9000X or a Sharp GF-9000 Boombox and Replace the Speaker's with original One's or Take your original speaker's to your Local Loudspeaker repair shop for new surrounds and or cone's with surround's an even if only One is damaged you should still repair/rebuild BOTH so Both sound the same, when you are finished and put back together

hi

finding the speaker are shot has done you a favour as they are rubbish and not up to the job anyway....put a decent pair of speakers in these and they kick ass

any decent "8" speaker will do the job

deliverance - 2013-03-14 15:03

agreed i have 8 inch pioneers in mine sounds great far better than the originals .

8" speakers ... done!!

What wattage? and I'll assume 4ohms.

Now to find some white cones!

On a misson... Thanks peeps!

This box ... "weapon of mass distraction" the boombox project.

would you consider putting lasonic speakers? they bounce pretty nice,

moving a lot of air for your bass.

Shame when this happens, my first GF-777 had same problem. I was looking at getting some rubber solution that maybe you could put around the edge of them to repairm never got round to it though and swapped the speakers from another scrap 777Z, though not quite the same as the 777E speakers

Should make it sound abit better though, I was very dissapointed with the 9000 and poor sound
