Pioneer SK 550

breakbeatfanatik - 2013-06-13 18:54

I hope I'm not abusing of these blogs. I just posted this issue earlier but now have more info. I have a Pioneer SK 550 that has its door stuck and won't open because the play button is stuck. According to the repair guy that is helping me, pioneer decided to add two screws inside the cassette deck that keep me from being able to unscrew the back piece and open the box to repair. Any help, info, pointers to someone that can help?

Here is a page from Service Manual of SK-750, which is very similar to SK 550.

From this, it looks like the the outside panel of cassette door is a snap fit on to the cassette holder. It is to be snapped up and taken out to expose the screws below cassette door. I think, you can do that even if the cassette is closed.

Can you try that, even if it is with a bit of force, but being careful not to break anything inside?

Pages from Pioneer SK750 SM

Full service manual is available in boomboxery.
