gf 7700 speakers

andyboombox - 2013-07-10 05:30

was in luck this mornuing at the carboot and found a sharp gf7700 for 8 quid-see pic of one below:

IMG_0406so i got it home to find it all working, except the speakers were acting wierdly....you could hardly crank it and the speakers were flapping like i dont know what, burbling as it wereso i thought "what the hell?",so whipped those cabinets apart,to find the worlds weakest speakers!they are no bigger than in a cheap slimline mini, and yet the overall box is relatively large, going on for the size of a gf9500 to be honest-the front of the grilles makes the illusion that the woofers are way biggerso anyway, ive fitted a pair of hitachi speakers with a higher overall rating and a bigger magnet and..........joy of joy the sound is much improved

point is,why did sharp put crap speakers in what would have been a dear unit in 85?has anyone else re done theirs?what experiences have people had with the even higher spec boxes from sharp like this, such as the gf800,wf939,etc etc?this is a nice box and im over the moon to find it,but a word to the wise,if you get one, whatever you do,change out the speakers!
